El proyecto de investigación "Innovaciones para reducir emisiones de metano en rumiantes" ganador de la convocatoria Fontagro 2022 tiene por objetivo de esta propuesta es desarrollar e implementar innovaciones tecnológicas desarrolladas en América Latina para la cuantificación y mitigación de emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en sistemas de producción bovina. Se Implementará un sistema basado en sensores remotos para el monitoreo del comportamiento ingestivo y la cuantificación de las emisiones de metano entérico en bovinos en pastoreo. Se validará el efecto mitigador de un aditivo funcional en diferentes condiciones de alimentación en bovinos de carne tanto en Colombia como en Argentina y se ajustarán ecuaciones locales para la predicción del consumo y digestibilidad de la materia seca en bovinos en pastoreo usando NIRS fecal. Estas tres innovaciones provenientes de la investigación previa del equipo de AGROSAVIA permitirán disminuir un 10% la intensidad de emisión (g de CO2Eq/kg Carne) en los sistemas ganaderos y contribuirá a mejorar la sostenibilidad y resiliencia de las fincas ganaderas ante el impacto del cambio climático.
En la plataforma colaborativa están asociadas la universidad de los Andes en Colombia, con el profesor Fredy Segura del departamento de Ingeniería Eléctrica y Electrónica ya se habían adelantado acciones previas para el desarrollo del sistema basado en sensores remotos, desarrollando trabajos de grado de estudiantes de pregrado en colaboración con la Investigadora Olga Mayorga del CI Tibaitatá. Nuestro país Aliado es Argentina, con el INTA como co-ejecutor, gracias a interacciones de los investigadores en proyectos previos internacionales como R-GCB/LCL-RN y GRA ganadería, donde compartimos líneas de investigación en común y vimos la posibilidad de fortalecernos al tener experiencias e infraestructura que se complementan. Finalmente, desde la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC) de Argentina también tendremos el apoyo técnico-científico en varias actividades que son de interés de su cuerpo docente e investigativo.
Finalmente, en las Estrategias y consejos para los investigadores que quieran postular proyectos y conseguir recursos tan importantes para AGROSAVIA mi recomendación es asociarse con otros países y varias instituciones es muy importante, por eso el trabajo previo debe ser un motor para la generación de este tipo de propuestas, una vez los tiempos de preparación para Fontagro sumado a los tiempos que se requieren para surtir los procesos internos de AGROSAVIA, requieren de mucha claridad en las actividades y recursos a ser solicitados por cada institución. El impacto en beneficiarios también es un punto clave, Fontagro solicita que sean al menos 2000 beneficiarios directos, para esto estrategias presenciales y virtuales deben complementarse.
